“Alpine Center is an amazing place to learn all the ins and outs of the culinary industry” says the Apliner Ian O’Broin.
After studying for six months in my first year, I gained a good thorough base of knowledge and cooking skills that enabled me to find an internship with a two star Michelin restaurant in Madrid: “Santceloni”. This was a fantastic opportunity to expand and put into practice what I had learnt. In second year, we progressed to advanced culinary techniques. This matched with up to date industry standard courses in accounting, bar and beverage management and restaurant operations, really gave me an all round education in how the restaurant industry operates.
Equipped with this kaboodle of skills, experience and down to earth know how, my second internship found me in Hue, Vietnam where I took up a position as the Western Sous Chef in a 5 star M Gallery Hotel: “La Residence Hotel and Spa”.
I am so thrilled with my accomplishments that I’ve earned with the help of all my teachers at Alpine, and I can’t thank them enough for this. The students at Alpine come from over 45 different countries around the world and making friends with them really exposes you to the real world and helps you interact with many different cultures which is very important when working in the tourism and hospitality trade. I’ve made such good friends at Alpine, so not only did I receive an ample proficient education at Alpine Center and crucial International experience with the help of the careers officer but have acquired fantastic new friends for life. I would recommend Alpine Center to anybody who wants to delve into the exciting and rewarding world of international hospitality.
